POLICE say a man driving a white van attempted to lure a teenage girl into his vehicle Tuesday.

A police media release said the 14-year-old girl was walking through an East Elmwood parking lot towards a school bus Tuesday around 8:45 a.m. when the man stepped out of his van and asked her to get in.

The teen refused and fled to a nearby convenience store, said police.

The man is described as Caucasian and being in his mid-40s. He is of average height with a medium build and a large pot belly.

He reportedly has a large, wide nose and grey hair covering his ears, and was described by police as wearing a black leather jacket, blue replica Gucci Handbags jeans, a black baseball cap, black sneakers and dark-coloured gloves.

The van is described as a very dirty, newer style of Econoline vehicle. It's reportedly white in colour with tinted side windows.

Last Thursday, a suspicious man allegedly tried to lure an elementary school student into a white van in the Maples area.

Even so, the Rovers boss has been encouraged by the growing understanding between new goalkeeper James Bittner and the defence.

"James Bittner still hasn't conceded a goal and we haven't looked like conceding when we've had a stronger team out," he said.
