TWO women who were befriended by a man in central Wellington later had to fight him off after he attacked them and stole a handbag.
Police say the man approached the women in Cuba Mall Quadrate Handbag Handags Replica about 4.40am yesterday, talked to them, and began walking with them.
Detective Sergeant Paris Razos said the man's behaviour changed as they neared Glover Park.
He grabbed one of the women and stole her handbag. The second woman tried to defend her Replica Coach Tote Bag friend. The man punched and kicked both women before fleeing on foot with the stolen handbag toward Vivian St. One woman suffered minor hand injuries in the attack.
The man is described as Maori or Polynesian, short, of stocky build, clean-shaven and with long dark hair in
embroidered patches a ponytail. He was wearing a grey T-shirt and stretch denim jeans.
Mr Razos said the man was familiar with the area and may be local.
