Two men affiliated with the Utah-based Church of Healing Arts and Sciences, described by a federal prosecutor as more of a tax dodge than a religion, were sentenced Monday in federal court in Roanoke.
Kerry Rex Smith, the church's senior minister, was sentenced to 20 months in prison and Cartier Replica Watches three years of supervision by the federal probation office. He pleaded guilty last year to conspiring to obstruct justice.
Louis L. Getman, who had led a church chapter in California, was sentenced to two years' probation. He pleaded guilty last year to falsifying a document.
The church was drawn into Salem-based ATM company Couvrette Building Systems' battle against its former chief financial officer, Roy Alonzo Dickinson, Breitling Replica Watches who is serving a federal prison sentence on tax and fraud criminal convictions.
Dickinson sought to evade a civil judgment Couvrette gained against him by donating a building he owned in California and other property to the church.
